[Roku was finally returning from his mission for the Malnosso today, tired and just wanting to be back in his familiar bed and sleep. Course, that may have wait a bit after he sees the condition of Luceti. Well, more like he step into a massive puddle.

It was like someone had dumped a lake on top of Luceti. And wow some of the damage he was seeing on the buildings. What the heck happened while he was away? Soo despite how tired he was, he may just wander around a bit, poke a few people while he's on his way back to the house--try to avoid stepping into more puddles.

When he does finally get back to the house he'll just...drop the bag he had brought with him and stare at the damage.]

How bad was this storm?

...[He wasn't sure what to say to that. He knows what it's like to be in the Avatar State and he's sure Aang could tell he was familiar with it. He places a comforting hand on his shoulder.]

Do you want tell me what happened? I won't force you, if you don't want to.

[He felt uncertain about it, but Roku still was a comforting force for him. And Aang felt like this was something that should be discussed with the other Avatar.]

Can we sit down first?

[flameoroku]

[A nod]

I'll follow you.

Okay. [He walks back to the house to try to find somewhere to sit, quietly asking Roku a question in the meantime.]

How was your thing?

[flameoroku]

Very hot. I basically had to guard all the crops being moved and it's really hot working out in the fields. We had a few people pass out.

[savedtheworld]

[Nothing involving killing. Aang gives a light smile as he grabs some chairs.]

That sounds pretty rough. But at least now you have all the refreshing water you could ask for.

[flameoroku]

[He laughs] Yea, if only could actually waterbend it.

[And he does a motion, but...none of the puddles move. He sighs and then joins Aang once the chairs are placed]

You will, eventually. We'll make sure of it.

[He sits down in his chair and assumes a more serious posture, looking around to make sure none of the housemates are nearby.]

[And the atmosphere soon felt a little heavy around, as if nature knew something serious was about to go down. Once they're sure they were alone...]

What happened up there?

[He takes a moment to collect his thoughts before speaking.]

Everything up there was so horrible, and there was so much death. And I got... trapped in this perfect dream world where the only way out was by... attacking something that was disguised as Katara. All of that... it made me lost control, and I entered the Avatar State. I... it tried to kill all the Cultists and Malnosso it could find. And... [A slight sob] it almost attacked Katara too. The real one. But she... she calmed me down.

[Roku sits there quietly and listens to what Aang had to say. He looked a little sick by the end of his explanation.]

That's awful. I'm so sorry to hear you had to go through that. [...you've got him dreading about being caught in a draft one day. And Aang...he's familiar enough of air nomad customs to know an event like that would go against everything he was taught. Though killing is still bad however you see it.

He stands and comes forward to give Aang a comforting hand on his shoulder.] I don't think I could have stopped myself if I did the same thing to someone important to me.

[It feels a little better to get it all out there. And to have his previous life's comfort. He looks up towards Roku.]

Thanks for understanding. I still just feel so ashamed of myself for losing control like that. You... you haven't ever entered it yet, right?

[flameoroku]

Well...I have actually. When I was last here. [And then he quickly adds]

It wasn't intentional and no one got hurt, but I sort of set the house on fire.

Oh. [There was a fire Zuko didn't set?] I guess that counts as lucky. [A pause as he tries to find the words.] Can you tell me how it... happened?

[flameoroku]

... [Roku just takes a deep breath as he settles back in his seat.]

I was getting to know Zuko better back then. At some point the conversation went to my friend...Sozin. He said a lot of things I couldn't believe Sozin would do and...how my own best friend would leave to me to die one day. That really upset me, hearing someone talk about a good friend like that.

[And having somewhat experience it because of that one experiment, he can't really deny it will happen now...he then remembers how he got out of that state] Katara was there to help me out of it too.

[He looked down at the mention of Sozin. He had many complicated feelings stemming from this topic. But it was pretty clear. That's how Roku found out.]

I see. I'm... sorry, Roku, that you had to find out like that. [He leans out of his chair to give a brief hug before sitting back down.] Katara... got you out, too? She really is so brave. [Especially when he considers her issues with Firebenders.]

[flameoroku]

She's crazy. [he had to add that, sorry.] But...yea, I admire her bravery for doing that. She really looks out for her friends when they need it the most.

[He has a fond smile that fades as he speaks. I know. No one else could do what she does. But I've started to become afraid of how dependent I am on her to get out of the Avatar State. I need to be able to control it, for when I'm not near her or if... if this place tries to turn the Avatar State against her. [Pause] Roku, have you ever heard anything about how to control the Avatar State?

[flameoroku]

[A frown. Aang has a valid point there.] Unfortunately I haven't. It's come up in conversation back when I was at the air temple a few times, but we never really discussed it in depth.

I thought that might have been the case, but I wanted to make sure. [He quietly looks around before continuing.]

The thing is... I learned a method back home. It's about opening all of the chakras on your body to accept the pure cosmic energy of the Avatar State. Most of the steps are about letting go of negative emotions, so I... I feel like it might be good for me. But the one that's been a problem for me has been the last one, which is getting rid of earthly attachments.

[flameoroku]

I see...[He can assume it's Katara that he can't let go...now he's starting to wonder how he'd fare when he learns how to properly unlock the Avatar State]

Funny you say it's earthly attachments you're having trouble with when you're an airbender. [He's just kidding around with that comment]

I wish I had something more to offer to help you with that, but I think it's difficult for anyone to let things they care about go like that.

[He gives a light smirk at the joke; Airbenders are expected to be detached from the world, but there was never anything wrong with some emotional attachments. All a part of living freely.]

Yeah, it is. I... I tried back home, twice. But neither wound up sticking. [He gets a bad feeling that he shouldn't mention that one attempt involving Roku's great granddaughter temporarily killing him and all the other Avatars in one blow.] And I don't know what long term effects it will have on me. Katara's afraid that I might lose who I am.
