[It's late in the afternoon and there was nothing out of the ordinary happening today in the plaza, except for a sudden burst of water from the fountain. Today, the fountain decided to spit a man out of it. He was certainly not there a moment ago. Roku wasn't sure how or when he found himself underwater, but he knew he couldn't breathe if he continued to stay under. He gripped edge of the fountain, coughing and gasping for air as he pulled himself out and plops himself down against the fountain wall.]

Ugh...water's trying to kill me before I even get a teacher. [His back ached terribly against the cold stone so he leaned forward a little as he tried to get his bearings. He turns his head to look towards the fountain. How did even get into a fountain!? ...Oddly, it felt kind of familiar. Actually, where the heck was he? This plaza was definitely not air temple architect. Still, there was something familiar about this place. The memory was fuzzy, but somewhere in the back of his mind was telling him he's been here before. But...he's pretty sure he stayed in the Air Temple for the last several years, and he never left the Fire Nation before that. This wasn't Fire nation, he's sure of it, or at least his head was telling him it's not.]

Where...? [...He's just going to sit there, soaked and dumbstruck for awhile as people pass him. Has he moved every so slightly from discomfort, his right hand will stumble onto the journal, just sitting there beside him. He stared at it, before he picks it up. Almost instinctively he opens it and...well say something, but...a part of his head was telling him "what are you even thinking? This is stupid". It's this part that people will hear in the journal.]

[Voice]

Hello...? Is...um-- oh, what am I even doing? Can anyone hear me through this? [So he doesn't think he's going crazy]

[Aang is just tuning out anything to do with Sozin and the war.]

Yeah, it was really difficult, and I still have to practice a lot here. I'm used to being the pupil instead of the sifu, but I'd be honored to help you with any of the elements.

[He smiles at the idea of teaching with Katara.] You're in good hands with Waterbending, with Sifu Katara here. And like I said, I'll help however I can, and you'll be catching up to me eventually.

[Katara glances between the two avatars, and their expert avoidance of what had defined her life. And for a moment she felt a step out of time. After all, Aang's world-defining memories always would be when the world was at peace, on the brink of war. And Roku, this Roku, could never imagine the pain and devastation that followed in the wake of his best friend's horrifying actions - the reason why Aang was the last airbender. It was right there between them and neither one of them was confronting or acknowledging it.

This is going to explode in our faces one day, isn't it.]

[But not today. And though she smiles at Aang's compliment, she has something else in mind - might as well take advantage of the good times while they're here.]

So, Roku, does this mean you're a master airbender now?

Sifu Aang and Sifu Katara. [He's just saying their titles with some amusement. His next comment was sincere, but there was a bit of humor to the tone.] I would be honored to learn from the both of you. And we'll practice off each other, like you said before.

[And then he smirks a little at Katara's question.] And yes I am. I'd demonstrate, but I rather not drop this egg. And we were talking about the rooming situation right?

[Crisis has been averted, for now]

[The lingering disappointment from Appa's absence mostly dissipates for a sincere smile. He hadn't realized it before. Roku may not be an air nomad... but Aang is no longer the only Airbender here.]

I do want to see later. And I know there's at least one really awesome move you don't know yet. [Pause.] But yeah, that rooming situation. I still like the bunk bed idea, if neither of us will let the other take the sofa.

We can work it out once we get all your things inside.

Why are you carrying an egg?

[Awesome move? He's curious but it can probably wait.] Well if you're all right with me as company, then I don't mind the bunk beds.

[He holds up the egg slightly when Katara asks about it.] I found it! Well, not here, but I mean I found it back home and then it followed me here. It's parents had abandoned it for some reason and I didn't want to just leave it there.

Yeah, it could be fun to have an Avatar roommate. And I don't use much space to begin with.

[He then turns his attention to the egg. Wow, more about the history of Fang. He couldn't remember if Katara had been told about Roku's pet yet.] It must be real loyal already if it followed you here without even being born!

[...Does this mean he should be expecting an Appa embryo?]

Having an Avatar for a roommate. You can't even say that back home. [When Aang puts it like that, it does sound pretty exciting]

And it's a dragon egg. [Saying it like it's common sense here.] I don't know how far along it is though. We need to keep it someplace nice and warm.

I'm sure we can set something up for the egg. Maybe using some Firebending.

[He's too excited by the idea of Baby Fang. Nothing weird about having a dragon in the house.]

[It's a dragon egg. A dragon. Egg.

Katara's not entirely sure how she feels about this.

...oh well. It's not as though the house hasn't been burned down before.]

We'll find someplace safe for it. And make sure Sokka doesn't mistake it for omelette material.

That's an idea. Though...if I'm going to do any firebending, I'll be doing that away from the house. [He uh...hasn't forgotten about the burning house incident.]

I'll think of something so it can stay in my room...well, our room. [Looking to Aang.]

That's a really wise idea. [He remembers the various warnings about the house catching on fire. It's been intact since he moved in, so he has to be doing something right.]

And I'd be okay with that. It could be fun.

I'm sure it shouldn't be too hard to build. And if you two decide that you need some space, putting on another room is always an option.

All right, thanks. [He finds himself smiling to them both. It hasn't fully sunk in until now that he was really back in Luceti, back to living the friends he had made here.]

It's really nice to be back here and seeing everyone again. And meeting you too, Aang.

It's been great meeting you too, Roku. This you, that is. [He gives a cheery smile.] I can't wait to get to know you better. [And sidestep all of the awkward landmines in the way. But, feeling the bison whistle near his chest, he felt a fresh burst of hope.]

[Katara smiles happily.]

It's good to see you too, Roku. I never thought I'd see you again. Why don't we continue this conversation inside? I bet we can find a basket for that egg...

Sounds like an idea. [And he can finally put his stuff somewhere.]

Any real changes to the house? [Let us walk and talk now, okok]

Katara would know better than me. I'm still the new guy around the house - even with you and Toph!

[Aang holds his hands out, offering to carry the egg again.]

We got another bathroom. Otherwise it's pretty much the same.

[She moves to get the door.]
